Magnesium aluminum silicate for construction is a white natural powder from modified smectite clay. It disperses in water to form a “card-house” network, providing excellent thickening, suspension, and thixotropic (shear-thinning) properties. It enhances workability and sag resistance in mortars, putties, and coatings, earning the name “thixotropic lubricant.”
It is widely used in dry-mix mortars, wall putties, water-based coatings, gypsum-based materials, and tile adhesives. It prevents sagging of thick layers, improves troweling smoothness, reduces sticking, and suspends powders to avoid sedimentation. When combined with cellulose ethers, it offers synergistic thickening, potentially reducing cellulose ether dosage.
