Mixeon®Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (HEC)

HEC (Hydroxyethyl Cellulose) is a non-ionic water-soluble cellulose ether produced from natural cellulose through alkalization and etherification. It is soluble in water and does not precipitate at high temperatures. It offers excellent thickening, suspension, water retention, film-forming, and protective colloid properties. It is highly compatible with a wide range of ionic and non-ionic additives, and maintains stable viscosity across a pH range of 2–12.

APPLICATION

Its main applications include use as a thickener in coatings to improve flow and leveling; as a thickener and stabilizer in personal care and household products such as shampoos and toothpaste; and as a fluid loss reducer in drilling fluids for oilfield applications. Due to its stable performance, HEC is an essential functional additive across multiple industries.
